Mainstream Programming

Fancy yourself as the next Chris Moyles or Jo Whiley? Then the mainstream department is for you! We are responsible for the shows that air from the moment students wake up until the switchover to specialists at 6 o’clock on weekday evenings and at 2pm on the weekends.
With the playlist carefully selected by the ever knowledgeable music team, being a mainstream DJ allows you to concentrate on producing quality, award winning show content which will keep the student populous entertained throughout the day.
Mainstream programmes offer something for everyone- providing a mix of factual, gossip, comedy and popular entertainment from soaps to satire; so you can guarantee that something will satisfy your taste. And as if all this wasn’t already enough- there’s loads of awesome competitions with great prizes to be won throughout the daily broadcasts.
On joining the mainstream team you will receive full training on the studio equipment as well as help with presenting skills. Producers will be assigned to every show team to help with the technical side too- and of course they can also broaden ideas and help make your shows even more amazing!
This year, as well as broadcasting from the top of the union in the Xpress Radio Station, we’re planning a season of roadshows around campus which basically just adds to the excitement.
So if you fancy playing a few tunes and like me, enjoy a bit of a chat, then come and entertain listeners for a couple of hours a week in the mainstream team!
